Large donation bins are located in the foyer at each bottle depot.

In partnership with
Aquatera, the Bottle Donation Program took flight and was met with strong support.

Aquatera has donation bins at the
Eco-Centre (located next to the Plus I depot) and at the landfill south of the city.

BOTTLE DONATION PROGRAM

The Bottle Donation Program was the brain child of Barry Bucknell, the former Executive Director for the Grande Prairie and District Association for the Mentally Handicapped. It's purpose is two-fold:

One: To benefit youth clubs and organizations that catered to youth groups.

Two: Provide a drop off centre for customers that choose not to wait in line and collect their refundable deposit.
To respond to this need, the Power Plus Program (PPP) was developed.
Because of the donation program's limitations (only twelve charities were eligible each year) more and more customers were asking for their bottle donations to go to a charity of their choice.

REMOVE YOUR CAPS
One of the most frequent WCB claims by employees of bottle depots are those related to carpel tunnel syndrome. This comes from the repetitive motions used to remove the caps from bottles. Caps must be removed prior to recycling. Please Remove Caps.

DON'T CONTAMINATE
Contaminants such as cigarette butts, liquids such as gasoline or urine, or containers that have been home to mice place our staff at risk. Please Rinse Containers (Milk) and Do Not Contaminate.

LEAVE YOUR CLOTHES ON
There are in excess of 50,000 types of “ready to serve” containers registered in Alberta as part of the container refund collection industry. Still, many containers sold by retailers are not part of the deposit system. By leaving labels on the container our staff can quickly identify if a deposit was paid at the time of purchase. Please Leave Labels On.
