Welcome to Bottle Depot

Frequently Asked Questions

    1. Q. Can we return milk containers to the bottle depot for a deposit refund?

    A.
Sorry. Dairy product containers are exempt. You do not pay a deposit for dairy beverage containers. You can, however, return your empty plastic dairy containers to a voluntary recycling depot.

    2. Q. I would like to organize a fundraiser such as a bottle drive. Who would I contact?

    A.
What a great idea! Just call Recycle Plus Bottle Depot at 539-0871 or e-mail at gpbottle@gpdamh.org
for an informational package. A step-by-step guide to fundraising can be found here.

    3. Q.
How can I save time when I go to the bottle depot?

    A.
You can save time by sorting and counting all glass, metal and plastic containers. Please leave labels on, remove all caps and corks, and rinse all containers to reduce spills and odours. It's a little work for a big pay-off.

    4. Q. Do I need to squash the beverage containers?

    A.
Please don't. Though it seems like a good idea, squashing containers make it difficult to recognize the product type. More problems can then occur at a later date when the containers reach the baling process.

    6. Q. What do I do with used paint and other hazardous substances?

    A. The City of Grande Prairie hosts "A Household Toxic Roundup" and Paint Exchange" event in June and September each year. The event is held at the Eco-Centre, 10431-96 Avenue, or you can call the Waste Management Hot-line at 538-0452 about further recycling programs.
Household Toxic Containers including paint cans can now be dropped off at the Eco-Centre located at 10431-96 Avenue during Eco-Centre hours.

Thirty-five 2 liter of plastic bottles will produce enough fibrefill for a sleeping bag.
